Political maps, data, analysis, and research
I'm Eli Spencer Heyman, an Atlanta-based political analyst with a focus on Georgia, my home; Rhode Island, where I attended college; and Austin, Texas. I recently earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy from Brown University.
All of my professional work is informed by data. Depending on what I'm trying to accomplish, that might include past election results, fundraising information, demographic statistics, and much more. Combining this data with good instincts and an intimate knowledge of my turf helps me provide the best coverage possible.
I don't just make maps. My work includes complex demographic calculations, compiling information from many different districts into spreadsheets, predicting and projecting elections, and even archival research.
Every 2020 DA race in Georgia. Eleven of thirteen 2020 State Senate primaries in Rhode Island. Five of six 2019 city runoffs in Georgia. Those are just some of my successful predictions – in elections no one else was even publicly predicting. When experts said Republicans were “likely” to win the Senate special election in Georgia, I publicly argued that they were wrong – which they were. I've never called a race incorrectly, and my state legislative fundraising spreadsheets have been relied upon by politicians from left to right.
